Lāčplēša 51: The National Romanticism of Eižens Laube

Built in 1909, this building is one of Eižens Laube’s most celebrated works. The architectural design combines a massive corner tower with elements of National Romanticism and Perpendicular Art Nouveau. A distinctive feature is the copper-forged frieze on the bay window along Aleksandra Čaka Street, adorned with ethnographic “sun” ornaments.
